Where’s My Hot Chocolate and Chai?
We know many of you have been searching high and low for our Hot Chocolate and Chai — and we want to thank you for your patience while these favourites have been harder to find. A little about what’s been going on, and when you can expect them back.
Why the shortage?
It’s been a challenging year for chocolate makers around the world. Here’s why:

Global cacao shortage

Unprecedented weather conditions and crop disease in key cacao-growing regions have reduced harvest yields significantly. Most of the shortages have come from Africa but this has impacted the world and the entire industry.

This has pushed up the cost of cacao and made it harder to secure consistent supply — especially for the high-quality, organic, ethically sourced cacao we use.

Supply chain delays

Ongoing international shipping disruptions and domestic freight bottlenecks have slowed the arrival of essential ingredients and packaging.

Even when cacao is secured, moving it from farm to factory to your local store has been taking longer than usual.

Our commitment to quality

We won’t compromise on the organic certification, ethical sourcing, or flavour profile you love. That means waiting for the right ingredients, ratherthan rushing production with alternatives that don’t meet our standards.

Our cacao remains the same organic, premium quality. In some cases we have been delayed to receive it and because we only use organic, we have had to adapt to delays in the supply chain.

The good news
While Chai is temporarily out of stock in Coles, our Hot Chocolate and spreads have been making a comeback in stores and online. By the end of September, we expect supply to return to normal for these products, so you can enjoy them whenever the craving strikes.
We’re also working hard behind the scenes to get Chai back on shelves as soon as possible. Our teams are in close contact with our growers and suppliers to secure the cacao and spices we need, and we’ll update you as soon as they’re back.
